Mild Abrasive Safety Grip Tape Now Available

For years we continuously pushed the boundaries of creating an anti-slip tape range that had the deepest grit granules, the biggest variations between peaks and valleys with the thickest abrasive minerals (think of our X-Coarse range) but now we have turned our attention towards creating a range that is the opposite end of the abrasive scale.

H3432 is an abrasive anti-slip tape but features the mildest anti-slip coating we have ever sold as a stock abrasive product (we do deliver even milder formats, but these are special productions for customers who meet the MOQ). This anti-slip tape has full 100% surface coverage, but the minerals are smaller. This results in a low peak to valley measurement, which is beneficial and more desirable in some applications.

A mild abrasive safety material has its uses. Typically, they are;

When you need a Thinner abrasive anti-slip material.

When you need a Lighter abrasive anti-slip material.

When you want a gentle to the touch anti-slip, but it cannot be non-abrasive.

 As mentioned H3432 is a stock item. We are delivering it in black but, dependent on MOQ’s (minimum order quantities), can custom deliver it for you in any colour format.  All roll widths are available and we can Die Cut to any size or design. For any bespoke product requests, please allow for slightly extended lead times. Information on our custom services can be found here.

Approved Anti-Slip Tape for Aircraft

The products been approved and certified to supply anti-slip materials for aircraft interiors. We have anti-slip tapes approved for use inside cockpits, passenger interiors and cargo holds. All relevant materials have been certified by FAA and CAA approved testing laboratories. We hold certification to;

FAR25853 b 5 horizontal burn test.

CAA/FAA specification number 8, vertical test, issue 2.

Cockpit Area; All materials within the cockpit require a guarantee to not hold a flame. Cockpits are usually barren areas with contents being kept to a minimum and one of the reasons for this is to ensure fire risk is virtually non-existent. For non-slip requirements, H3406 conformable is certified for use within the cockpit, as the aluminum backing will not hold a flame.

Rest of the Aircraft; H3401 Safety Grip is approved for use in all other areas of an aircraft. Standard Safety Grip provides exceptional slip protection in all general applications, indoor and outdoor and it is used for slip prevention on aircraft steps and within thresholds and cargo holds.

At no additional cost, we can send Certificates of Conformity on request with every delivery to provide assurance that suppliers to the aviation industry have up to date, accurate documentation. All anti-slip materials sold by Scandic Coating are ISO9000 approved.

Flexi- Grip: Anti-Slip for Angular Surfaces Available Now

Angular surfaces can be a challenging application for most non-slip tapes. Due to their construction, adhering to angular surfaces correctly can be next to impossible. There is usually guaranteed lift or air pockets where the material will not apply around tight angles, and the strain of the angles can cause anti slip tape to eventually lift around the edges or tear where the air pockets are. The material’s thickness can sometimes change the specifically made size of a handheld surface to the point where it is detrimental to the user too.

Enter Flexi-Grip…Flexi-Grip is our latest addition of Scandic Coating's non-abrasive range. Whilst being specifically designed for use on tight, angular surfaces, it can also be used in any environment our other non-abrasives can be used. The surface uses the same embossing process as our Coarse Resilient, yet with a different pattern that allows for more control while still offering exceptional grip. As a non-abrasive, it is also kind to bare skin, something that was an absolute requirement in the development.

What truly sets Flexi-Grip apart from Coarse Resilient is the thickness. It is made as thin as possible to allow it to be more flexible, yet still maintain a high level of durability. This means it can be successfully applied to surfaces that cannot have their surface dimensions affected too much to the point where it would impact the user negatively.

To guarantee a more than efficient application, an aggressive, water-resistant adhesive is added to the underside of the material, which allows Flexi-Grip to grab immediately to a surface to achieve an effective bond and virtually eradicate the chance of lift. A water-resistant adhesive was chosen as the specific application Flexi-Grip was developed for meant potential exposure to moisture and we didn’t want to give additional opportunities for the material to fail.

Flexi-Grip is available in pre-cut rolls measure 25mm, 50mm and 75mm. All roll widths up to 1260mm are possible, along with many die-cut shapes.

BS5609 Marine Immersion Test for Anti Slip Tape

Back in 2012, some samples of our H3415 Coarse Resilient anti-slip tape for the BS5609 Marine Immersion test was sent.

The BS5609 ‘Marine Immersion’ tests were carried out to attain just how effectively our material would perform underwater, mainly how durable would adhesion be?

The BS5609 test involved applying H3415 Coarse Resilient anti-slip tape to an alloy plate, which was then fixed to a jetty in a mid-tide position. This allowed it to go through 13 weeks of consistent periods of submersion during high tide (BS5609 section 1) and exposure to air at low tide this would determine how the seawater or more the minerals within would or could affect the adhesive once dried on (BS5609 section 2).

A full-on 13-week, intensive live test is always the best way to determine whether a product is suitable for use and at the end of the 13 weeks coarse resilient anti slip tape passed with flying colors, with the adhesive holding strong throughout the entirety of the testing phase.

For more information on H3415 Coarse Resilient anti-slip tape, you can visit the webpage. If you would like to speak to us, you can do so via email or phone. Alternatively, complete the contact us form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
